Read the general hints before reading specific hints.

Read each puzzle’s hints in the order they are given to prevent the most spoilers.

General Hints

Get as much information about a puzzle as possible.

Once you think you have enough information, make some assumptions about how it can be used and then follow these assumptions. Did you get what seemed to be a wrong answer? Evaluate whether it was your assumption or execution that was wrong, and try again!

Pay attention to the title and flavortext of each puzzle. Even if the puzzle has explicit information or directions, the title and flavortext may contain important or helpful clues.

Look for double meanings, in particular.

If you feel like you aren’t getting anywhere, consider whether the puzzle might be a meta puzzle, i.e. whether it requires answers from previous puzzles.
